South African police in record drug bust

first_img26 June 2014South African police have seized nearly 10 tons of pure heroin worth over R3-billion (US$280-million) and arrested three men, including two Chinese nationals, in the biggest drug bust in the country’s history.Police uncovered the drug laboratory in the upmarket suburb of Kloof in Durban, and conducted the successful raid on Tuesday night, confiscating piles of 40-kilogram bags of pure heroin powder along with industrial mixers and chemistry equipment.The three arrested suspects, aged 23, 55 and 56, were charged with manufacturing drugs and were expected to appear at the Pinetown Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.The Witness newspaper reported on Thursday that the three were understood to be “underlings” in an international drug syndicate, and that the hunt for the kingpins was now on, with forensic detectives having flown in from across the country to analyse the evidence being assembled from the hi-tech drug lab.“I can say that investigators are using evidence that was found during the raid … to establish where they came from,” National Police Commissioner Riah Phiyega told The Witness after visiting the compound on Wednesday.“I recently stated that I have issued an instruction that Crime Intelligence identify the top 15 syndicates in the country and work together with the detectives and the hawks to go after these syndicates operating in serious crime such as drugs, cash in transit, human trafficking, money laundering, arms and ammunition,” Phiyega said.“These drugs that we uncovered destroy the lives of our people who use them, especially the youth. There are reasons that arm’s length buying processes exist. The goal is an objective decision as to who their partners will be based on certain criteria decided beforehand. Why do they want an objective decision?The reason these buying processes exist is that people inside companies believe that relationships create an unfair advantage.I know you’ve heard that relationship selling was dead. You’ve heard that economic value is what’s important now, and it is important, but it’s not the only thing that makes up commercial relationships. A good bit about preference is the decision as to with who your dream client wants to work, who they want on their team.If relationships were dead, you wouldn’t feel the way you do when you get an RFP, and you wouldn’t wish you had a relationship that would tip the balance in your favor. You might also have more information, things that could help you know how to influence others by making sure you addressed their needs.If relationships were dead, you wouldn’t be worried when your longest relationship in your largest and most loyal client leaves the company. Ind vs Eng: Graeme Swann reprimanded for kicking stumps during second Test

first_imgEngland off-spinner Graeme Swann has been reprimanded for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct by kicking stumps in frustration and dislodging the bails during the second day of the second Test against India in Nottingham.Swann was on Saturday found to have breached Article 2.1.2 of the Code which relates to abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an international match. He has been reprimanded for a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct.The charge related to an incident at the end of the 80th over of the India innings when the England bowler kicked the stumps in frustration and dislodged the bails. He immediately apologised to the on-field umpires for his actions.The charge was laid by on-field umpires, Asad Rauf and Marais Erasmus as well as third umpire Billy Bowden, of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Umpires – as well as fourth umpire Tim Robinson, an ICC statement said.After play concluded, the player admitted the offence and accepted the proposed sanction offered to him by Ranjan Madugalle, the chief referee of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees. The good news is that compelling offers can be created from the content that you already have. In today’s post we will look at six ways you can use existing content to create offers that covert visitors into leads. 1. FAQ’s – Think about the questions prospects ask you about your business every day. Create a list of the top 20 most common questions and answers and let your visitors download them directly from your website. Your leads will have answers to their most common questions, which can help move them through your sales funnel faster. 2. Kits – A white paper by itself is not compelling, but a white paper, webinar and slide deck packaged together will grab your visitors’  attention. At HubSpot, we use kits often to offer multiple pieces of content on the same subject — give it a try with your own content. 3. Content Expansion – A quick review of your current site can help to inspire new offer ideas. If your products page provides high-level information, use this data as a framework for a detailed PDF about each product or service and let users download it from the related products page. Or take one of your most popular blog posts and expand upon it to include more in-depth analysis and research and offer if as a download on your blog. 4. E-Books – E-books allow you to combine various pieces of information into a report. Additionally, they are more interactive than your average white paper and include links to related information. The perceived value of an e-book is often greater than that of a single white paper. This fact helps your users rationalize completing a form to get the information. 5. Comparisons – Create a PDF that reviews pricing in detail or a feature comparison of your product versus the competition. This is a great way to differentiate two products or services that might seem identical to a top-of-the-funnel lead. Educate your visitors and set yourself up as the thought leader in your industry. Your leads will return to you when they are ready to make a buying decision. 6. Off-Line Content – Do you have content that has been used for various off-line events and marketing in the past?
