Syracuse turns in 2nd straight winless weekend

first_img Facebook Twitter Google+ For the second weekend in a row, Syracuse couldn’t post a win, tying Robert Morris 1-1 on Friday night before dropping Saturday’s game 2-1 on a late goal in the third period at Tennity Ice Pavilion.On Friday, the Orange got on the board first when Nicole Ferrara scored the first shorthanded goal of the season for Syracuse with 14:41 left to play in the second period.Less than 10 minutes later, the Colonials answered. Ashley Vesci pushed a shot past SU goalie Kallie Billadeau to tie the game.Syracuse held Robert Morris to just two shots attempted on 7:28 while shorthanded.  Through Saturday, the Orange has allowed just eight goals on 67 power play attempts, an 89.1 penalty-kill percentage.Billadeau had 26 saves for SU, while Jessica Dodds finished with 25.AdvertisementThis is placeholder textOn Saturday, a Rebecca Vint goal with just 1:13 remaining in regulation proved to be the dagger in the Colonials’ win at Tennity.Ferrara scored for the second straight game. Twenty-eight seconds later, Thea Imbrogno tied the game against Billadeau.Billadeau made 26 saves compared to just 17 for Dodds of Robert Morris.Syracuse mustered only two goals on the weekend slate, compared to six last weekend.
