first_imgThe Termon U12 teams capped a fine season with victories in both matches over Glenties in the county finals played in Naomh Mhuire on Sunday last.Cheered on by a large crowd of parents and supporters, the development squad set the scene with victory in the first game.The determination and work rate of these players gave them a platform which allowed their passing game to flow. Great credit is due to this squad who have improved so much over the year.Each and every one of the team raised their game for the final and fully deserved their victory.Mark Toye and Luke Downey were resolute in defence, Kevin Mc Gettigan and Manus O Connell put in a towering performance in midfield while Michael Trearty, Lorcan Callaghan and Martin Mc Garvey provided some fantastic scores.In the A final, the Termon boys started very strongly only to be hit by a goal against the run of play which brought a quality Glenties team back into the game. True to form the Termon boys rallied with Bobby Mc Gettigan and Jamie Grant starting to get a grip on midfield , but there was only a point between the teams at half time.After the restart Aaron Reid and Mark Gallagher settled the team with some good scores before Glenties again rallied to bring the margin back to the minimum.With the game hanging in the balance Conor Cassidy won some good ball and kicked a great point before feeding Aaron Gallagher who kicked another good score to put Termon back in control.Glenties made one final surge and were almost through on goal, but some great defending by Stephen Black and Jack Alcorn ensured that Termon held strong, and were full value for their victory.In yet another great team performance, cousins Jack Alcorn and Aaron Reid were superb while Conor Cassidy and Aaron Gallagher gave their best performance of the year in the full forward line. The boys capped a fine days work with a team meal in Casadh an tsúgáin before attending the Termon Senior championship match in Dungloe.The team were welcomed home to a bonefire and large group of parents and supporters who were delighted to celebrate another great day for the club.Managers Paddy Gallagher and James Cassidy were absolutely delighted with the performance of both teams, and were particularly proud of the improvement of the panel as a whole. Manager Paddy Gallagher says he knew there was quality in the panel, but the work rate and team ethos has ensured that they got rewarded for their efforts. “To see the improvement is these young players , and to watch the combination of commitment , team work and quality football is a real joy “.The future is bright for Termon.
